Hey peoples, it’s been a while.
I just started an Etsy shop, selling vintage clothes and other goods.
Check it out! I should have a lot more items up soon–it’s been rainy here in Colorado so I haven’t been able to take too many photos.
Cheers!

Volcanic Lightning, aka the world’s most badass thing.

Volcanic eruptions can (sometimes) create their own lightning storms.

How it Works:

The lava melts the mountaintop ice, releasing massive amounts of water.  Just as a side note, all this cold water flowing into the volcano as it’s about to erupt can increase the volcanic intensity.  So this water is spewed out with the dust and ash particles in the plume, creating a perfect static environment for massive electrical strikes–created by the volcano itself!

edit: forgot to mention this phenomenon is also known as a “dirty thunderstorm”!!! rad!
